What does it mean when my gums bleed when I brush and floss my teeth?
Bleeding may be a sign of gingivitis or periodontal disease, and you need to come in and see Dr. Henry Danziger or Dr. Matthew Kerr as soon as you can.
How often should I get my teeth cleaned?
Our dentists and team suggest that you come in at least every six months for your regular scheduled visits, but the American Dental Association® (ADA) recommends cleaning three to four times a year.
Are dental treatments painful?
No, when proper techniques are used, dental treatment can be extremely comfortable and pain-free.
Is there a way where I can keep my teeth and gums healthy for a lifetime?
Yes, with routine dental and preventive care combined with excellent oral hygiene.
Does the office follow strict infection control protocol?
Yes, the office is fully compliant with OSHA and follows the American Dental Association guidelines for infection control.
What type of sterilization techniques does your office practice?
Our philosophy is to use as many disposable items as possible. Prophy cups, water sprayers, suction tips and the like are single-use only and thrown out after each patient. The chair and other areas in the treatment room are cleaned with a sterilant and disinfectant that kills bacteria and viruses. All items that cannot be disposed of, such as handpieces and instruments, are rinsed, scrubbed with a brush and placed in an ultrasonic cleaner to remove the debris. After the debris has been removed, they are placed in our steam autoclave that sterilizes using extremely high temperatures and pressure.
Are the doctors recent graduates and up to date on the latest techniques?
Dr. Danziger has been in private practice for over twenty-five years. He also attends continuing education classes several times a year. Our associate dentists are also up to date with their continuing education courses.
Sealants
Sealants are a thin, translucent coating that is applied to the chewing surfaces of permanent teeth. This is to prevent cavities. Typically placed on children when their permanent teeth are erupted. Most insurances cover this procedure, but our staff will help you answer any questions about this.
Composite (White) Vs. Amalgam (Silver) Fillings
- Silver fillings last much longer than white fillings
- Silver fillings have been proven safe by the ADA
- White fillings don’t last as long as silver fillings, but are much more aesthetic
- White fillings are much more pliable for unusual placement on sides of teeth
