Your toothbrush can collect germs throughout the day. This can make your brush extremely dirty. It’s best to keep as clean of a brush as possible so you can clean your smile with a top-notch oral hygiene tool. To help you keep your toothbrush clean, pristine and effective, our dentists, Drs. Danziger and Kerr, encourage you to do the following things:

-Wash your hands before and after you brush and floss. This can help you prevent transferring bacteria to your toothbrush and floss.

-When you’re done brushing, rinse your toothbrush with warm water and then let it dry in an upright position.

-Don’t cover your toothbrush bristles with a closed toothbrush cover until the bristles are dry. Covering the toothbrush while it’s wet can encourage an environment where bacteria can grow.

-Use a completely dry toothbrush each time you clean your smile.

-Don’t share your toothbrush with your family members, friends or anyone else.

-Always replace your toothbrush every three to four months (or after your toothbrush bristles have been worn down) and after you have been sick.
