Dental Veneers: What Are They?

Posted .

If you are looking for a way to enhance your smile, we may have a way to help. We can offer a form of cosmetic dentistry called veneers that could help patients who are dealing with stained, chipped or even teeth that have gaps. But it should be known that this procedure may be irreversible.

Veneers are custom made shells that are made from either porcelain or a composite resin. They are extremely thin and are made to cover your natural tooth, where they will be permanently bonded. Porcelain may be able to provide the most realistic looking tooth enamel. They can last anywhere from 10 to 20 years before they may need to be replaced.

To have your veneers placed, Dr. Henry Danziger can clean your teeth and determine which shade may work best for your smile. A very small amount of enamel may be removed to make room for these shells, and an impression of your smile can be taken. Then your custom veneers can be created and once they are done, an adhesive can be applied, and they will be cemented and placed.
